i hope most of you have today off. i do not. my next company paid holiday is memorial day. depressing, right? i get 4 days off in 2 months and then not a one for 5 more. my complaining is unwarranted though, working from home makes me feel like i have a lot more days off than i really do.
so because it's a bank holiday, this means we don't find out the value of our appraisal until tuesday or wednesday. it's been a test of my patience (something i have very little of) to not hear a peep this entire time.
this weekend, jon suggested we go out to celebrate the renovations and appraisal. i said "shouldn't we wait until the appraisal comes back and we have enough money to celebrate?" jon's response? "if it comes back low, we won't be going out for a long time, so we might as well celebrate now." we very seldom have that line of thinking, so we went with it - though we reigned it in and just went out to dinner at our favorite chinese place.
we had an amazing meal and great conversation. the girls dining next to us were both texting on their cell phones throughout the entire meal and didn't speak a word to one another. maybe they were texting each other? weird.
one of my favorite parts about chinese food is the fortune cookie at the end. i never placed much belief in fortune cookie fortunes until i got the one about my house selling that came true (to the day). so we are banking on our fortunes from saturday being a sign of our impending refinance. the fortune read "you will do well making money and holding on to it."
my fortune said "your dream will come true when you least expect it." i hope they don't mean the dream where danny devito as the penguin from batman grabs my legs when i go to the basement to change out some laundry.
happy monday!

not a holiday for me either. haha. :)
can't wait to hear about the appraisal. i am crossing my fingers for you.
You may have just inspired everyone who reads this post to have that exact same nightmare. Just sayin' :)
haaa great nightmare. hilarious.
we just got our property tax re-assessment... our property value went down pretty dramatically, which believe it or not is actually a great thing for us. last time it was assessed, the market was REALLY high (2007ish) and we've been paying astronomical taxes. now it is assessed at what we guess is its actual value. thank God!!!
Hoping your refi appraisal has similar good results! It will help me to fear that process less for us down the road.
